Trunk or Treat 2020

While many families are trying to figure out how to celebrate Halloween during COVID, Holy Trinity Catholic Parish - with the help of the Village of Westmont - is planning their 1st annual Trunk or Treat event.  This opportunity for safe, social distanced family trick-or-treating OPEN TO THE PUBLIC will take place in the Holy Trinity Commuter Parking Lot (across the street from Uncle Bub's) from 12 to 3pm on Saturday, October 24 (with a rain date of Halloween - Saturday, October 31.)

We are looking for car sponsors for this event to set up socially distant, decorated cars in our lot and provide small bags of candy for kids to trick or treat.  (A budget of $100 for candy and small bags is suggested. Just the candy should be brought with on the day of the event - not cash/check.Plan for set up at 11:00am and tear down at 3:00pm. Car hosts are encouraged to promote their ministry, business, etc.  Car sign-up has been extended to Wednesday, October 21.

We ask that all families bring two (2) of the following donations for the People's Resource Center in Westmont: 

1) Pasta Sauce
2) Macaroni and Cheese
3) Tuna
4) Rice
5) Canned Soup
6) Diapers

Some ground rules and safety guidelines:

  1. ​​​​Masks Required – extra protective gloves recommended
  2. Candy Distribution
    • Prepackaged snacks, candy, or treat bags can be laid out on the table for kids to pick up
  3. Keep it Clean & Sanitized
    • At check in when families arrive - before the trick or treaters begin - all kids and their parents will be given a squirt of hand sanitizer
    • Hand sanitizers kept at each table by cars as well
    • Kids should wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water before coming (gloves encouraged) and candy bags will be sanitized beforehand (and prepared with gloves on.)  Candy will be distributed to each car by volunteers in a contactless manner.
  4. Trunk or Treat To Go
    • Sign up one family for one half-hour time slot
    • [1 parent per child(ren)]
    • Have kids wait until they get home to enjoy their treats
