Our parish will continue our “Rebuild” campaign through the Easter season—focusing now on the gifts of the Holy Spirit leading up to Pentecost.
Each week we will reflect upon a particular gift of the Spirit, examine its fruits and invite you to see which gifts resonate most in your life. Perhaps you will discover or activate a gift you did not know was there!
Join the parish community be inspired this Easter season. Come Holy Spirit!
We reflect upon understanding as our gift of the Holy Spirit this week. The gift of understanding develops our faith within us. Understanding helps us “see” into the hearts and souls of ourselves and others. It helps us to hear and listen to fully know what someone is saying, which invites us into empathy and compassion. Think of the two disciples walking to Emmaus after Jesus’ resurrection. Jesus gave them both the gift of understanding as they walked along and talked about the fulfillment of the scriptures. They heard Jesus and fully came to know what he said and meant. With understanding, this is what is possible through prayer—truer belief and faith.
Come, Holy Spirit!
This week, our intentions are:
O Risen Lord, the Way, the Truth and the Life, make us faithful followers of the spirit of Your Resurrection. Grant that we may be inwardly renewed, dying to ourselves in order that You may live in us. May our lives serve as signs of the transforming power of Your love. Use us as your instruments for the renewal of society, bringing your life and love to all and leading them to Your Church. This we ask of You, Lord Jesus, living and reigning with the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God Forever. Amen.
