Mr. Tom Garro joined Holy Trinity School as a full time teacher this year. Mr. Garro spent a lot of time at Holy Trinity last year as a substitute teacher, working with students from preschool up through 8th grade. This year, Mr. Garro is teaching 7th grade Religion, 5th through 8th grade Science, and two sections of Math.
Mr. Garro said that one of the many gifts he has been given is his family. "My parents provided me not only with a solid foundation in faith, but also the opportunity to receive an excellent education throughout my life."
Mr. Garro attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he majored in history and minored in philosophy. He received his teaching certificate from Benedictine University in 2010.
As he looks back at the years he spent in Catholic schools, Mr. Garro realizes how vital those years were in shaping the person he is today. "I believe that the education I received in the Catholic schools has provided me with a solid foundation from which my faith can grow," said Mr. Garro.
Over the past few years, he has also been a lector and registered adorer at Holy Trinity. "The time I have spent in these two ministries has helped me grow in my faith," said Mr. Garro. "I am excited to have the opportunity to guide the students of Holy Trinity as they learn their Catholic faith."
Outside of teaching, Mr. Garro enjoys spending time with his brothers and friends. He enjoys watching and playing many sports. His favorite sport is baseball. Mr. Garro’s other interests include reading, music, movies, and playing games.
