Mrs. Linda Kelly is beginning her second year teaching 4th grade and her 5th year teaching at Holy Trinity School. "It was both challenging and exciting to leave early childhood for a middle level grade," said Mrs. Kelly. "Fourth grade is a wonderful level to teach and I look forward to all the great things we’ll do during the upcoming school year."
Mrs. Kelly thinks 4th graders are a lot of fun. "They are independent and motivated," said Mrs. Kelly. "This year they will each keep a reading notebook to capture their thoughts on the books they read, along with journals as they learn about the writing process through several projects. They will also be challenged by math, and research social studies and science topics. To top it off, 4th graders are really smart and keep this teacher on her toes! Most days in my classroom are a treat."
When not teaching, Mrs. Kelly keeps busy with family and friends. She and her husband have two sons. Both are sophomores—one in high school and one in college. "We love sports and spend a lot of timing watching both college and professional games. Basketball is my favorite, but baseball is a close second,” said Mrs. Kelly. Our younger son plays baseball, basketball and golf. Our older son is an encyclopedia of sports stats and trivia and hopes to go into broadcast journalism."
A native of Illinois, Mrs. Kelly received her degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She taught for several years in the Chicago and Evanston areas before staying at home to raise her two sons. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends, reading, movies, gardening, cooking, and her big standard poodle.
Mrs. Kelly said, "I am very excited to work with Mrs. Noverini, Father Mike, and the entire staff at Holy Trinity. I know it will be a productive year!"
