Jan Turner

Mrs. Jan Turner is beginning her second year of teaching at Holy Trinity School. This year, Mrs. Turner is teaching 6th grade Religion, Algebra, Pre-Algebra, and Read Naturally.

Since earning a masters degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and doing some consulting work, Mrs. Turner has been involved in education for the past eighteen years. Most of her time has been spent teaching math at the high school and middle school levels.

Mrs. Turner believes students should be actively engaged in their learning in the classroom. One of her favorite quotes is from Benjamin Franklin: "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."

Mrs. Turner shared that one of her favorite things about Holy Trinity School is that the students spent time in the Adoration Chapel every week. "Spending time immersed in the real presence of Jesus fills us with His love and peace," said Mrs. Turner. "I believe this truly makes a difference in the sense of community that we experience at Holy Trinity School."

Outside of teaching, Mrs. Turner’s Catholic faith and family are the most important parts of her life. At her parish she has served as a catechist, lector, Bible school teacher and study leader, and Generation of Faith coordinator. Mrs. Turner also enjoys swimming, water parks, amusement parks, bowling, and reading. Through her own children, she has also become very involved in theater and sports.

The next time you see Mrs. Turner ask her to sing you a tune...she knows all the lyrics to The Sound of Music and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!
