Religious Education - Sacraments

Baptism
Baptisms are held on the second and fourth Sundays of the month after the 11:30am Mass. Parents and Godparents are required to attend the Baptism Prep Class before a child is Baptized. Classes are held on the first Tuesday of the month. Please call the Religious Education Office at 630-968-5978 for information and to register.

First Reconciliation (Confession)
The preparation for First Reconciliation begins in 2nd grade, after students have gone through one year of Religious Education. Students in both Holy Trinity School and Religious Education begin preparation in September for receive of Sacrament in December. Preparation includes instruction and workshops both at home and on campus.

First Communion
After receiving First Reconciliation, students continue their preparation for First Communion in January and receive the Sacrament in May. Preparation includes instruction and workshops both at home and on campus.

Confirmation
"Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit. The Candidate for Confirmation who has attained the age of reason must profess the faith, be in the state of grace, have the intention of receiving the sacrament, and be prepared to assume the role of disciple and witness to Christ (CCC 1309, 1319)

Students are prepared for Confirmation 6th-8th grade

  • 6th Grade: Receive student Bible and independent study of Salvation History, participate in Old Testament activities on campus, and conclude with a Seder meal in March.
  • 7th Grade: Review basic doctrine of the Church, participate in a fun Doctrine Review game followed by a Doctrine Exam.
  • 8th Grade: Study liturgy, moral life in Christ, and serve God by serving others, participate in a retreat and peer ministry.

Adults who have been Baptized and wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, click RCIA Program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) to learn more.
