December 15, 2017

Dear HTCS families,

The collection of virtues for December are very intentionally chosen: joyfulness, gratitude, generosity, enthusiasm, contentment, frugality, humor, selflessness, and detachment. As we approach the season of Christmas, I would like to practice the 1st grade virtue of gratitude.  Thank you to Mrs. Gustafson and Mrs. Teoli (and their merry band of elves) for chairing the lovely Advent Tea.  Thank you to Mrs. Ryan (and her merry band of elves) for organizing an awesome Donuts with St. Nicholas.  Thank you to Mr. Mastalarz (and his very merry band of elves) for making the Christmas tree sale a sell-out!  Thank you to Mrs. Pohlman (and her merry band of elves) for the fabulous Santa Sale.  Thank you to Mrs. Moroz and all of the students for a joyful Lux Mundi concert--and to the band parents for a delicious Grace Notes reception.  Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who have spent many hours helping with craft projects and Thanksgiving feasts, chaperoning field trips, dealing out hot lunches, organizing library books, working on the Gala for Education, serving on school board and PSO, etc., etc., etc. (a la the King of Siam.)  It is due to your practice of the 2nd grade virtue of generosity that we are able to make the school experience rich in knowledge, love and service.  I am very grateful to all of you, the HTCS family, and I pray that the upcoming holy days are blessed time for your families.

I have again attached to the letter from Fr. Belmonte, Superintendent of the Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools, about the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarships program.  These scholarships may cover up to 100% of tuition and fees for each child in qualifying families.  They will be awarded on a first come, first served basis and the application will open on January 24, 2018.  We will have the computer lab open on that date and will be able to walk you through the application process.  Don't miss this opportunity!  More information is available at the website www.weteachmore.org

In the peace of the coming Christ,
Dr. Simon
